Jimmy joined Heartsounds Uganda in 2009 as a volunteer having been told about the new organization by Prof. Musisi Seggane, the then Head of Department of Psychiatry at the Makerere University College of Health Science. Initially he worked as a volunteer and then he was assigned to lead the Public Relations department as PRO. While doing this as part of the pilot project in Peer Support Worker, he took part and completed the Peer Support Worker training held at the Postgraduate hall at Butabika hospital. Heartsounds Uganda in partnership with the Butabika East London Link implemented this very successful pilot project.
Briefly worked as acting Coordinator and was confirmed in that position in 2016. Together with the Sheffield Health International Partnership and Heartsounds, Gulu a suicide prevention and awareness training for health centers staff in selected health centers were carried out. Unfortunately the Coronavirus pandemic interfered with the completion of this project.
Although he is a mental health advocate with passion in carrying out mental health awareness, Jimmy is a graduate of Diplomacy and International Studies and a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Uganda Martyrs University, Nkozi.
His other passion are Public Affairs, Education matters and Networking. He is open to new ideas and loves good communication skills.
